Going Deeper
7 Lessons from 7 Churches: Thyatira

Day 1
Churches can often fall into 3 different categories:
page1image18216

1. Inward Focused - Loving Holiness, Neglecting the Sinners
Takes good care of the congregation, Neglects the needs of the community around them, Protects Truth, No Love for Others

2. Outward Focused - Loving the Sinners, Neglecting Holiness Takes good care of the community around them, Compromises Truth for the sake of Unity, Doesn’t want to offend

3. Balanced - Loving Holiness and Loving Sinners
Realizes the importance of Truth to better serve those who need to hear Truth, Does not compromise Biblical Convictions, Does not compromise Biblical Morality, Loves God and Others

The church of Thyatira could easily fall into the 2nd Category.

In what category do you see the other churches we have studied so far? In what category do you see Journey? In what areas can we improve? How can you personally help us improve?

Day 2
Read 1 Corinthians 3:12
-15
1) How do you think this relates to this week’s topic?

2) How can you apply this Scripture to your own walk?

Day 3
Read Revelation 2:18
-29
Do some research on the story of Jezebel from 1 Kings 18 to 2 Kings 9.

1) What new insights did you gain for our passage?

2) Why does this story matter?Compromised Truth leads to Compromised Morality (and vice versa).

3) In what area do you feel you have a tendency to compromise?

4) What encouragement can you find from our passage (Rev 2:18-29) that will help you overcome this tendency?
