Audacious Faith
Going Deeper Audacious Faith
Read Joshua 10:1-15
1) Refer back to Joshua 9. Why is it important that Joshua honored the covenant between Gibeon and Israel? What does God’s promise of victory to Joshua say about how God views covenants?
2) After marching all night, Joshua’s men must have been exhausted for the battle. How does God’s intervention with the hailstones (vs. 10) display His grace? Do you ever think of God as a warrior?
3) Seeing how God fights for His people when they are obeying His vision, does this give you more confidence in your own vision?
Matthew Henry writes, “No doubt Joshua had an extraordinary impulse upon his spirit, which he knew to be of divine origin, prompting him to desire that this miracle might be wrought upon this occasion, else it would have been presumption in him to desire and expect it; the prayer would not have been granted by the divine power, if it had not been dictated by divine grace.”
Basically, Joshua had the faith to pray the prayer because God had given him such a faith.
Read Ephesians 2:8-10 (saved through faith...a gift from God)
4) In what ways do you see these verses relating to the story of Joshua? Does this build more confidence in you to move out in Audacious Faith? Why or why not?
5) What do we learn about God’s character through the story of Joshua and Ephesians 2:8-10?
Will you commit to praying this prayer every day this week?
“Dear God of the Universe. I know that You have given us this territory of
Fernley, NV. And in Your Name, I claim it for Your Glory, for Your Right- eousness, for Your Honor. I will not be discouraged by the circumstances sur- rounding us. I will not be dismayed by the enemy’s arrows. God, let Your glory be magnified. God let Your hand be swift. Let me bring glory and honor to Your name by being Your tool to till the ground of Fernley, NV. God, I pray that for Your glory, You will make Fernley the hardest place to go to hell from. And I pray that You will use me in whatever way You see fit to see this vision come to fruition. In Your wonderful and powerful name I pray. Amen. ”
